Calexico Founder and Director, Nicky Charman is on the ground in New York for Fashion Week and the bi-annual New York buying trip for Calexico (and, yes, we’re all kinds of jealous). We got the low down on her New York agenda (or Nicky’s New York Minute, as we’re calling it) — what she’s eating, where she’s going, and, most importantly, what she’s wearing.

Eat: Le CouCou, Soho
This uber chic New York Bistro has been named one of the best restaurants of the century. So, naturally, it’s on the agenda. Chef Daniel Rose is serving up a fresh, unpretentious take on French cuisine that has earned him accolades, and the respect of New Yorkers — no mean feat.
Wear: Transitioning from dinner to drinks is a cinch in metallic shirting and go-with-anything leathers. Masscob shirt, J Brand Super Skinny Leathers, Whiting & Davis Serpent Clutch, available in store at Calexico.
Do: Buying Appointments, Midtown
Calexico is home to over 80 international designers, and choosing next season’s pieces is a task Nicky takes seriously. It is a hands-on process, and, lucky us, New York is home to some of our most loved designers’ showrooms. On the agenda this trip? Jonathan Simkhai, Ulla Johnson, Cinq a Sept, Rag & Bone, and more. Let the shopping begin…
Wear: Go the distance in easy, convertible loafers from Isabel Marant, a classic Rockins scarf, and, Nicky’s favourite, the Isabelle Jean by AG. Available in store now at Calexico.
Play: The Meadows, Queens
Setting up shop in Queens, New York’s newest festival The Meadows has an insane line up including Jay Z, Gorillaz, Blood Orange, and Erykah Badu. Only in its second year, The Meadows is a celebration of the cultural diversity of Queens, and offers a fresh take on this pocket of old New York.
Wear: Rock on in studded leather and boots that can go all night. HTC belt and boots, Sogoli wrap chain necklace. Available in store now at Calexico.
Stay: 11 Howard, Soho
Danish minimalism meets New York realism at hot new New York hotel, 11 Howard. Casually luxurious, 11 Howard is sitting pretty in a primo position in SOHO, right on the corner of bowery, Chinatown, and Little Italy, New York’s fashion, design and artistic hub. 11 Howard already has a reputation for impressive contemporary artists collaborations, with ceramic wall sculptures by Katie Yang in each room, and a stunning mobile by famed American sculptor Alexander Calder hanging in the 15-foot lobby ceiling.
Wear: Beat jag lag in style in silk Equipment, Cosabella intimates, and new Calexico fragrance, Carner Barcelona in Tardes. Available in store now at Calexico.
